HomePod floor/wall stands

Will using a HomePod floor/wall stand cause a Degradation of the sound quality? If certain ones are better Let me know or should I just make a solid shelf for them? I bought these for my new home. I know I like the sound sitting on my counter. I am very impressed by the sound.

Moving them onto different surfaces alters the sound, you may or may not like how they sound. This isn’t a permanent change, they will just recalibrate. They sound better on solid wood to me, but it’s a preference

“Place HomePod on a solid surface, anywhere in the room. Make sure that it's 6 - 12 inches away from any wall or corner with at least 6 inches of space around it. HomePod senses where it's placed, then automatically analyzes the acoustics in the room, steering music in the optimal direction“.
