The 2016 - 2019 laptops use a butterfly mechanism for the keyboard which a absolutely awful in several ways. On the newer models released this year Apple is going back to using the scissor mechanism found on the older laptops, however, Apple may still be selling some models which use the butterfly keyboards until that line has a product refresh.

Might be a defect honestly, some devices unluckily come with one.

Right now, if it hasn't been a year yet, you can try to claim the warranty

They'll only cover certain defects though, Ill say this might be your best chance for a repair without cost
