My phone is stuck on the apple logo. Seems like my phone may be shutting down due to lack of space. I tried connecting it to my iTunes for an update or restoration but it is having trouble detecting the iTunes. any suggestions on how to proceed? I'm afraid of losing all of my data.

Also, please make sure you click the Update option rather than Restore when following steps on the link above as I don't want you to lose your data.
