Can a decal damage my Macbook Pro 16" screen?

I saw an article on here that says not to use anything on the keyboard or palm pad that adds bulk, since it could damage the retina screen. What about a decal that fits around your keyboard, speakers, track pad and palm rest? Will that be damaging to the screen? I just applied a "marble-look" decal that came with my macbook case. I'm wondering if it'll damage my screen. Please help! :)

FWIW, I would not place anything. I would not use a case.
