Connect to Wifi with NFC tag, iPhone XS and newer
Is there a reason why the NFC NDEF application/vnd.wfa.wsc is not supported when trying to connect to Wifi networks using an NFC tag? It would be very helpful if this was supported so that you can connect to a Wifi network in the same way that you can with a QR code to connect.
This was introduced in Android Lollipop in 2014.
I can see that this function might not be activated until a few years after the first hardware support in the iPhone XS and later, so that it can be supported in more units that are on the market. But it have been 2 years since the release and it might be time to start supporting it. Those who want to start using it can use both the NCF tag as well as the QR code, so that you support both the newer and older devices.
It would also be very helpful if this function was activated during the setup of the device, as this will allow you to just tap the tag to connect to the Wifi network instead of entering the information manually. This will speed up the setup of new units for those who set up a lot of units and can't use MDM, like if a customer buy a new unit and wants to get help to set it up in the store.
I know that there are solutions like the Wifi Porter, but this is a workaround as the tag send you to a website where you download a profile (.mobileconfig) that connects to the Wifi network. So you need an existing network connection to be able to use this solution.
