How to stop laptop from disconnecting airpods from iphone

Sometimes I have my airpods connected to my HP laptop (running Windows 10). Sometimes I have them connected to my iPhone X. However, whenever I'm using them connected to my iPhone and I turn on my laptop, the laptop will automatically diconnect the airpods from the phone and connect them to the computer. How do I stop this from happening?

That's hardly a solution. It's as many steps to reconnect the airpods to the PC when I want to use them with the PC as the number of steps to reconnect them to my iPhone after they were unwantedly disconnected from it.

The solution would be for the airpods to stay connected to the device they're connected to until I choose to switch devices.

Howdy puddockino!

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with your AirPods unexpectedly switching devices. To prevent this, you may need to unpair the AirPods from the PC.

If you go to your Bluetooth settings on your PC, you should be able to forget the AirPods, and pair them later as needed. If that doesn't help, try resetting your AirPods using this article:
