Print dialog looks for AirPort Extreme server

I removed an AirPort Extreme from my network. I found that at least two applications, Terminal and FileMaker Pro, try to find my Airport Extreme when printing. When I select any print function including changing the printer or selecting print as pdf, the system goes looking for the AirPort Extreme server. Each time this operation takes nearly a minute before the following error box is displayed:

There was a problem connecting to the server "David's AirPort Extreme".

The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and try again.

Other applications, such as Safari, Apple Mail, Excel, Pages, do not present this message when printing.

Any ideas on why the Print function is looking for this removed server?

Thanks fot your suggestion. I did not know about the reset function.

i had previously removed all printers and then re-added some of them without success. I just now performed the "Reset the printing system..." function which cleared all printers. I then re-added one printer then tried to print using Terminal, also without success. By the way, I have two printers defined, a Canon TR8520 which is an Airprint printer and scanner and a Dymo LabelWriter 300 which is connected using USB. It doesn't matter which printer I try to print to using either of these applications, FileMaker Pro and Terminal, they both have the same type of results and it doesn't matter which printer is currently active when I start the print function.

This appears to be something common with the print function used by either of these applications while other applications do not exhibit the same issue.

No. The Print dialog box does not show up until the error message is displayed. If I want to change anything, the printer, presets or select PDF, I must wait for the error message. Every step of the way requires waiting until the error message is displayed.

Like I said other applications do not have this issue, only Terminal and FileMaker, so far.
