Extend a Network
I have a Asus RT-AX88U Dual Band AX6000 route and would like to extend my network with an Apple Extreme 6th generation. Is this feasible, if so how ?

Thanks for the information.
Power up the AirPort Extreme and let it run for a minute or two. Then, hold in the reset button on the back of the AirPort Extreme for 7-8 seconds, release and allow a full minute for the AirPort to restart to a slow blinking amber light status.
Verify that the Ethernet cable connects from one of the four LAN <--> ports on the Asus router to the WAN "O" port on the AirPort Extreme.
Click the WiFi menu at the top of the Mac's screen and look for a listing of New AirPort Base Station. Just below that listing, click directly on AirPort Extreme.
When you click on AirPort Extreme, that will start up the AirPort Utility setup "wizard". The wizard will take a few seconds to analyze the network, and then display a screen that looks like the example below, except that you will see an AirPort Extreme displayed instead of an AirPort Express
Network Name........Type in the exact same wireless network name that the Asus router is using
Base Station Name.......Type in a short simple device name for the AirPort Extreme
Password......Type in the exact same password that the Asus router uses for the wireless network
Verify.......Type in the same password again to confirm
Click Next, and the setup "wizard" will automatically configure the AirPort Extreme with the correct settings.
When you see the message of Setup Complete, click Done and you are done.
There should be a green light on the AirPort Extreme at this time. If not, power off both the Asus router and AirPort Extreme, wait a minute, power up the Asus router and let it run a minute, then power up the AirPort Extreme.

Not feasible if you are asking about using a wireless connection between the Asus router and AirPort Extreme.
Feasible if you are thinking of using a permanent wired Ethernet cable connection between the Asus router and AirPort Extreme. Or, possibly using Ethernet over powerline adapters to provide the Ethernet connection.
We can provide the "how to do this" if you will be using an Ethernet connection between the Asus router and AirPort Extreme if you are interested.
The setup process is different depending on whether you are using a Mac, a PC, or an iPhone / iPad. Should we assume that you will be using a Mac for this?
Does the Asus router provide separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks that use different names, or does the Asus router use the same wireless network name for both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz signals?
No effect, unless each of the Ethernet runs will be more than 100 meters, or about 325 feet. Here, we assume that you are using a unmanaged switch, which does not require additional programming.
As far as setup, my recommendation would be to use a short spare Ethernet cable......any length will do......to first get the AirPort Extreme set up with the Netgear router. Then, when the AirPort is set up, power it down and move it back to the desired location, make the Ethernet connection again and power up the AirPort Extreme.
This way, you know that the AirPort is already set up correctly, so if things do not work correctly when you move the AirPort back to the remote location, the issue is with either the Ethernet cabling or the switch.
Thank you, that works !!!
Sorry, the two routers are hard wired to each other.
I am using a MacBook Pro (4yrs old) running Mojave. Asus has both 2.5 & 5GHz using the same wireless network name for both.
I just realized I am using a Gigibit switch (netgear) because of the distance between the 2 routers, how will that effect the connection between the WAN port and the other router ?
Yes it does. Not sure why you marked your "thanks" as the solution to your question, but what is done is done.
