My phone and daughter's phone are somehow connected and I am not sure
why. Sometimes I receive text that are directed to her, my name comes
up as the contact when she texts others, etc. How can this be resolved?

Why do you and your daughter each have a separate phone number if you're the one paying the phone bill? It's the same idea. Apple IDs are used for more than purchasing. They are the address to which iMessages and FaceTime calls are sent.
You can use Family Sharing so that purchased content is still shared.

This is typical if you both share the same Apple ID, and both phones are signed in with that ID. Is this the case for these two phones?
Are you sharing the same Apple ID on both phones? If so, one of you needs to get a new ID.
