Have you tried a forced-restart of your iPad?

• On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
• On an iPad with Face ID: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

Per my original reply, your Control Centre window is open/active. Swipe upwards on the Control Centre window (i.e, the area that is clear) to close the Control Centre.

If this doesn’t work, follow-the force-restart procedure described above.

As described, your Control Cente window may be active.

Try swiping upwards on the Control Centre window (i.e, the area that is clear) to close the Contron Centre.

To clarify, swipe upwards from the bottom edge of the Control Centre window.

I struggle to understand how you are unable to force-restart your iPad using the hardware buttons on your iPad. That simply makes no sense at all.

If you’re unable to close the Control Centre, or force-restart your iPad with the instructions provided, you will either (a) need to directly contact the Apple Support Team (the Contact Support link is at top-right of this page), or (b) visit your local Apple Store and seek help from the staff at the Genius Bar.
