Click to Copy bottom toolbar in Numbers?

In Numbers, when I click on the items in the bottom toolbar, they react with a little bit of shadow change, but nothing else happens. It would be really convenient if I could click these and copy the values displayed. Anyone wanna write a small cocoa app to make that happen? Or can someone on the inside just tell Apple to update Numbers to do that!? Please?!
