On my iMac, in "Photos," under "shared folders" how do I add pics which are in folders on my desktop? I do not want to create a new shared folder. I just want to add the pics to the folder which is already created.

Yes, I did create them. That's ok, I'm calling Apple to see if they can help me.

No, shared albums which are already in the icloud. I tried dragging and dropping from the desktop folder and that doesn't work. I tried taking them out of the desktop folder and putting them on the desktop and dragging and dropping and that doesn't work.

Did you create the shared albums? If you did then you add to them from the Photos library.
If you didn't create them you can only add to them if the original owner of the shared album set them up so others could add to them.
Do you mean "Shared Albums" that are in a Photos Library?
If you do then you should import those photos from the Desktop into your Photos library and add them to the Shared Album.
