Rookie Here - How do I keep iPads from merging apps/photos

Hi,

I am setting up an iPad for my 93 year old grandma so I can share photos with her. I don’t want all of my apps + all of my photos to be sent to her iPad, only what I share in the shared album. But once I set her iPad up, my stuff automatically appeared...I am sure this is simple, but just can’t figure it out. I need to keep her iPad as clean and simple as possible to keep her from getting frustrated.

It is an iPad (7th gen) WiFi - but this option is not in the drop down.

Thanks,

KAD

First and golden rule - don’t share your AppleID account. An AppleID should be used by one person only.

Whilst sharing your AppleID with your Grandma might appear to be a quick and easy way to share information, doing so creates all kinds of privacy and security issues. Assuming that your are “managing” the iPad of your Grandma, it would be far safer to set-up the iPad with a separate AppleID account (even if it’s you that knows the credentials).

If you intend to follow this advice, if the iPad is already activated, it may now need to be prepared for re-use:

You might decide to consider use of family sharing for the iPad:

Set up Family Sharing – Apple Support

Family Sharing – Apple Support

Share App Store, iTunes Store and Apple Books purchases with Family Sharing – Apple Support
