Using 2 Apple ID's on the same iPhone

Hello All,

Sorry if this has been asked a million times before, tried to see if I could find a definitive answer but was unable to so here gos.

We have a spare iPhone and want to share it with the other half and basically wanted to know if it's possible to switch between 2 iCloud accounts/Apple ID's on the same phone?

Many thanks in advance

Yes, but not "easily". Signing out of one Apple ID triggers removing of some content and such.

But it can be done.

Do note that signing out of an Apple ID for iTunes & App Stores, and then signing in with another one and downloading a previous purchase, or syncing Apple Music subscription tracks with it will disable it for sign in with the other one for 90 days.

See here for more details: View and remove your associated devices for purchases - Apple Support

Its not really something that you should be doing. either she is going to use it or you. Can't really have it both ways.

Thank you for the prompt reply, that's a shame. I was hoping it would be straight forward without loss of any data or anything.

Hope you have a good weekend

To be clear...

There is no "permanent" loss of data.

Content/data being synced with iCloud and linked to your Apple ID will be removed when you sign out, as is expected.

Then when your wife signs in, her iCloud data will be synced again. If you use Apple Music or iTunes Match, that iCloud Music sync will need to be done again.

And repeat as needed. If there are a lot of music and photos, that could take some time and bandwidth.

iPhones are not ideal suited for shared usage. Again, it can be done, but I'll suggest it's like driving in screws with a hammer.

You'll get there but the experience may not be great.
