IOS files

I'm out of room on my Mac I have three large IOS files that I'm thinking about removing. The backups are listed out but not named as a device. Before deleting how do I determine what the device the IOS file is for

Is it ok to delete old ios files from my mac? My Mac is nearing capacity and I'm looking for files I can delete to open up some space. When I go to Manage my HD, there's a category list and in it is iOS Files. I see three iPhones and my iPad. One of the iPhone files is from 2018 and the others are from 2019. The one from 2018 appears to be a backup of an old iPhone. Is this correct? Is there any reason I can't delete it?

Can I delete old iOS files? I'm almost out of HD space. System preferences is suggesting I delete device backups and software. That sounds "dangerous" to me, as I have no idea what they actually are. Is this something safe to delete? How would I know if they are safe to delete? Thank you.
