apple watch help!!!!

So my grandmother gave me her apple watch, she forgot that she even had one.

While I was trying to pair it to my phone and apple ID it said that I wouldn't be able to because it was still connected to a different apple id. She no longer has an apple product so when I tried to login to her old account it wouldn't let me with out the verification code!! Her phones is currently not working for cellular for the next few days, is there anything I can do to fix this today?! please help Im so excited but also frustrated!!!
