iPad will not play the .avi file

I am trying to play short (10 sec) .avi files, from my trail camera, on my iPad. ( iPad Air 3rd gen. 13.6 )No joy.

The iPad finds the folders, the files, and shows a thumbnail of the contents, but will not play the video.

I am using I-Flash device to connect the SD card to the iPad and I-Flash device apps from the app store to view the videos.

I would appreciate any suggestions .

To my knowledge, .avi videos can't be seen using native apps on an iPad.

You need a 3rd party app like VLC.
