forgot password on MacBook air

Hi there, I have forgotten the login name and password as administrator on this MacBook Air . I tried to login with my Apple ID to overwrite it but without success. My Apple ID login and password are good but I still cannot login to update the apps without the administrator's authorisation. Kindly advise.
