Apple Mail stuck on moving messages, won't rebuild, won't sync with iOS mailbox

MacOS Catalina 10.15.6; Apple Mail 13.4

Having same issue as several others. On one of my mailboxes, system is stuck on "Moving Messages 2 of 25". This mailbox now won't sync with same mailbox on iOS. Have tried booting in Safe Mode, same problem. All software up to date. I click on "Rebuild", but nothing happens and have restarted/power-off-on multiple times. Any suggestions on what to try next.

Are all your Mailboxes IMAP & not POP?

In a Browser login to that accounts WebMail, is it synced there?

Are the Non-syncing folders On My Mac or on the Server in WebMail?

Have you blown the dust out of the intakes lately?

What temperatures does this App report? Especially the GPU.

This App can be used to speed up the fans, all my iMacs would be dead without it.

Never ever ever drop fan speeds below the speed that the Mac itself is calling for.

Where is this Mailbox... does it exist in WebMail at all, or is it only an Pn My Mac box?

I think we can call it a win, there have been a few hiccups with various Internet goings on since everybody is using it more during the lockdown.

Hi BDAqua:

All mailboxes are IMAP. And, when looking at a WebMail of that account in a browser, the affected mailbox is not synced; while the other mailbox that doesn't have the problem is synced. Grateful for any guidance you can provide from here.

It’s a Gmail account that I primarily access through the Apple Mail client on my MacBook Pro, iPad and iPhone. I occasionally log on to it via Safari on the Mac. The iOS and Web versions are not in sync with the Mac version. Also, since this issue started, the Mac very quickly “heats up” and the fan begins to run continually, I’m presuming because of the stuck mail it’s trying to move.

I do not have an "on My Mac" mailbox showing in my list, see screenshot.

Strange, but overnight, the "Moving Messages" display has disappeared and, at least for now, the mailboxes are syncing again between iOS, MacOS and Safari Web versions. Not sure what happened as all I did since we last exchanged messages was put the Mac to sleep overnight. Also, the continually running fans have gone back to their normal quiet.

Do we declare victory at this point even though it's not clear how, or is there something else that needs to be explored here to ensure this doesn't return?
