Cannot connect 3 displays to macbook pro

Hi,

I am facing an issue connecting 3 displays to my Macbook Pro. Here are some details

Display 1: Acer 23 inch monitor (connected from Monitor DVI to Mac using mini displayport)

Display 2: LG 32 inch monitor (connected from Monitor VGA to Mac using mini displayport)

Display 3: Acer 23 inch monitor (connected from Monitor DVI to Mac using HDMI)

Note that I have the monitor lid closed and stowed below my desk.

Also Note that I tried the Command click on Displays to Detect Displays but only Display 1, 2 are detected and Display 3 is not detected.

The above configuration is only picking Display 1 and Display 2 and not display 3. I tried to restart few times and it always enables Display 1 and 2 and nothing on Display 3.

I looked over the internet and tried the following. Opened the Macbook lid, restarted and closed the lid. Now Display 2, 3 were turned on but Display 1 went off. Finally had to unplug the Display 3 HDMI connection to get Display 1, 2 working back again. This exercise told me that there are no issues with the wires or any of the HDMI or mini Displayports on the Mac.

Macbook: Macbook Pro 15 inch mid 2014

OS: macOS Catalina Version 10.15.6 (19G73)

How do I ensure all 3 displays are working while my Macbook lid is closed.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.15
