Can't login in with apple ID! (This person is not active error)

I recently bought a new macbook pro and set up a new apple ID which requires you to verify your phone number. I didn't have enough time at the time to verify it, so I just left it. I went back to verify my phone number in order to do so you need to login in with your apple ID. However, I can't login, it says 'This person is not active.'

Assuming I need to verify my phone number to become 'active' which would allow me to login but I can't login because my phone number isn't verified seems like Catch 22. Any help would be appreciated!

PS: Even more annoying, I thought I'd just screw it and make a new apple ID but ofc I need to login with my existing ID to disconnect my existing ID from Find My Mac
