imessage is green but normally is blue

my girlfriend has an iphone XS, i have a 7. normally our texts are blue because it´s imessage. but my texts weren´t going through so i sent it as a text message. now everything is green. i turned imessage off and then back on. then i turned sms off. i called support and they said it should be blue for me but it´s not. it´s freaking me out, what do i do??

In order for a message to be sent as an iMessage (blue) both parties need to be logged in to iMessage and have an active data connection. It's possible that the person you're sending to does not have an active data connection.


You can't turn off SMS from the iPhone. Only your carrier can do that. You can turn off "Send as SMS" but, that only has any effect if the iMessage fails to send. It will then retry it as an SMS. However, as it seems that the conversation has shifted to SMS, it won't really have much effect.


If you've both verified that you have an active data connection, try deleting the conversation and starting a new one.


There's no reason for this to be freaking you out unless you have a limited SMS plan.
