Photo with adjusted time stamp reverts to original when airdropped

Hi, I have been editing photo metadata (adjusting time stamp and location) using Photos on MacOS, and then airdropping them to my phone but every time I do the time stamp reverts to the original when received on my phone, and sometimes location is also lost. Does anyone know if there is a way around this? Thanks.

I have made sure all the settings are correct i.e. Photos > Preferences > General - All enabled.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

Photos doesn't edit metadata. It stores the information in its database. Anything exported will not be exported with any new date or location information.

You would have to find an EXIF editor to change those things attached to the photo.

Ah okay that makes sense now thanks! What I found interesting is if I synced a photo album from my Mac over to my phone using Finder, the adjusted time stamp follows over, and if duplicated within the phone the new time stamp is also duplicated into the camera roll. Which is sort of a work around.

If you export an image from Photos using the File -> Export command, then you can write the adjusted information to the exported file. It's an option in the Export command.
