iPad not charging but connected to power.

Hello, all. Have done some basic troubleshooting (did a hard reset thrice, and checked the ports and the cable for any detritus) on my iPad 2, but nothing seems to be working. Whenever I turn off the iPad and connect it to power, it lights up, but it does not charge after turning on. I would appreciate any help you can give. Thanks.
