Can I add my Mum's IPod to my ITunes?

How do I get my Mum's I-Pod to work with my I-Tunes? My Mum died & I've now got her I-Pod Nano 16GB Model 1366 with touch screen. My Windows 10 laptop wont recognize it. Is this because Mum set it up on her I-Tunes?
