I was watching an HBO Max show in Safari on my MBP. I wanted to watch it on my ATV 4K so I used airplay to extend my desktop to the ATV. When the window with the video was moved to the ATV, the video disappeared (it was just a black screen).
Any idea why this might have happened?

OK, just spoke to Apple. The agent confirmed that this is known to happen. Apparently, what I was doing is considered broadcasting and Safari treats that more strictly due to copyright issues than Chrome!!

I just confirmed that I have the same problem with Safari/Netflix. However, Chrome/Netflix and Chrome/HBO Max works just fine.
I don't know why the content provider would matter, right?

They only mention AirPlay from iOS devices. Maybe Mac/web is treated differently, as it is not through their own app?
