MacBook Air 2018 Recall

Has anyone had issues with their logic board for the MacBook Air Retina 13in 2018? The MacBook will not turn on and the Apple store says it’s the logic board. They want to charge $600 to replace but upon reading articles online there is a recall for this exact issue!

The way this program should have worked is - it should have been a proactive recall for the serial numbers you have determined as impacted and fix on a need basis for the remaining units as and when they developed an issue for a certain number of years after which normal failure rates would kick in.

This approach shows that not only a poor quality product was sold but a concerted effort undertaken to short change the customer by not offering to fix it for free - poor product and crappy customer service.

When a company does this - they end up looking very small in the eyes of the customer no matter the Company is a 2T market cap one.

Yes. It is unbelievable that they are not sensitive to poor quality / manufacturing defect. I guess they are too big to care! Otherwise why would they remain silent when so many of us have the same issue!

If Apple support is watching these threads, they should have the courtesy to explain their position and tell us why we don't deserve value for our money.

It is ridiculous! I was actually very excited to have my first Mac computer and have taken extremely good care of my computer. It is pretty obvious from all these posts that the MacBook Air 2018 logic board has a defect. We should not be having a logic board that malfunctions after less than 2 years of use. I do not under why I have to pay for a repair that is because of a faulty part. Apple should be investigating this issue and paying for these repairs. Hopefully they will release a repair program soon for this issue and we can get our money refunded.

Hi,

I have the same issue with my Macbook Air. I spoke the support and as you all claim they refuse to accept. I have a case # 101223165937 registered. I think I too have to send several emails and calls to have them accept their fault. I never expected suck poor service from Apple as always they have extremely good support. I think they want to keep this issue under wraps, to maintain their image to produce good products. However, I think this time Apple has fail to show its commitment to the users.

The Support sent this link https://support.apple.com/service-programs which shows that this issue is unknow to them. The supervisor spoke utterly referring to all the articles on this issue as wrong.

Lets see how this goes now...

I'm getting the same denial from the Genius Bar & they are charging me $478 for the same logic board/ power issues described here & in the media.

Get this, i never even used it. Nothing installed, no files, etc. just registered it & then shut it down. I bought the MacBook Air from Apple back in late 2018 as a back-up computer & when i needed it this week, it wouldn't load or charge.

Apple sold me a lemon. Has anyone taken Apple to small claims court before & can offer some advice/ suggestions?

Thanks!
