MacBook Pro screen issue

I took off a screen protector I put on my MacBook Pro, but in doing so I peeled off some sort of blackish film on the screen. The parts where the film came off are white and I can no longer see the media being displayed on the screen (i.e. there is only white and the wallpaper, open windows/applications, etc. are cut off). I have tried to re-attach the pieces of the pealed film back in their places and I was able to see the media being displayed on the screen again. I'm not sure what the film is but it seems to allow the white under it to look like the media displayed on screen (look at photo). I would like to know what the problem is and how to repair it (do I need to go in or can I buy a replacement?).

This is what the screen looks like:

There’s an anti-reflective coating on the display, and the screen protector adhesive removed some of it when you peeled it off.

There is a known issue with this delamination and Apple generally repairs it for free, but maybe not if they determine the cause was a screen protector. However, the only ‘fix’ is a new display panel, so you’ll need to contact Apple and hope for the best.
