How to remove an icon that was already deleted from Finder ?

I deleted 'Microsoft Word' from Finder and I emptied the trashcan. However, an icon of the app stayed in a gray color like before it completely downloaded so I reinstalled it from the Appstore and deleted it again. The app was disappeared. Then, I tried to update 'keynote', 'pages', 'numbers' , and 'GarageBand' but it said my Apple ID cannot update them due to some weird reason. I deleted those four apps and reinstalled them according to what internet said. 'Microsoft icons' appeared immediately on the Launchpad and did not disappear or remove from my Mac even I kept dragged them into the trashcan.

Hi florashin,

We understand you are unable to remove Microsoft app icons from Launchpad.

We would recommend booting in Safe Mode and trying to remove them again. You can learn how to do so here: How to use safe mode on your Mac.

If the issue persists, there may be residual files in your User Library. We do not recommend makes changes to the User Library, however you may be able to use a third party app to search for and remove any residual files related to Microsoft Office.

Additionally, it may be worth contacting Microsoft Support.

Hope this helps!
