Edit mode in Numbers

Apple has just introduced Edit mode in Numbers. I understand why. However,r I have files that I access from either my laptop, my iPad or my iPhone. Previously, when they opened, they cursor would be in the cell where it was last left. Now, if I previously saved the file on one machine and open it on another, it automatically opens in Edit mode. When you untick that, the cursor is no longer where you left it. On a large spreadsheet, it can be both time-consuming and fiddly to find the right cell and you may be in a hurry.

So: is there some way of disabling this mode?

Many thanks in advance

It's hard to guess what the "long series of data" looks like (it would help to give more details) but I rarely have a problem finding things in Numbers. There are many ways to facilitate finding things: search, sort, categories, etc.

Anyway this sound like feedback you might want to give directly to Apple via Numbers > Provide Numbers Feedback in your menu.
