Catalina included driver for Canon Pixima Pro 9500 not working properly

I still have a Canon Pixima Pro 9500 as this printer creates beautiful results. Since the last OS upgrade the printer is no longer printing properly. The driver is still part of the OS but no longer working properly. The prints are garbled. It seems a bit of a 32/64 bit problem as the printer seems to output every pixel twice at the same place not advancing the paper properly. A Windows 10 machine is still printing properly on this Canon.

Any sugestions?

Regards,

Arno

Canon has not produced printer drivers for the PIXMA Pro 9500 since macOS Mavericks (10.9), and not since High Sierra (10.13) for the PIXMA Pro 9500 Mk II printer. That means that you are likely dealing with 32-bit drivers in Catalina, and your compatibility from Canon is lost. Apple's AirPrint does not support either device.

The 64-bit GutenPrint v5.3.3 supports both devices but just how well is unknown to me. There may or may not remain installation issues with Catalina.
