why are there separate contacts "on my Mac" and in iCloud? So this is not a MacBook question per se, but what I would like to know is why my contacts listing shows the above two general categories. I realize if I add a contact on my iPhone, for instance, it's going to appear in the "iCloud" section - but why can't that contact also just appear automatically in the "on my Mac" section? I ask because it appears to me that if I have groups set up in both sections - let's call it "friends" - when I add a friend created on the iPhone to the friends group it does not show up in the 'on my Mac" friends group...but when I send an email out to all my friends and use that group in the CC field to get all of them in there, only the entries in the 'on my Mac' side are included. Very frustrating...

iCloud contacts group is missing In contacts settings, I cannot choose iCloud as the default because it isn’t listed. I have done all of the checking - iCloud contacts are turned on, correct Apple ID, turned iCloud contacts off and on after rebooting phone, and signed out of the Apple account and back in. None of these as instructed by Apple have brought the iCloud contacts as a selection for default groups. It only shows Gmail and On my iPhone as options, and all of my contacts are actually in my iPhone not Gmail. I’ve also tried turning off Gmail contacts and going through all of the processes again and it made no difference. Any ideas?

Why have my groups disappeared from my contacts on icloud.com (on Windows laptop)? They are still there on my iphone. My contacts have always synced without any problems between my iphone and icloud.com on my Windows laptop. Now I've received a new laptop, when I log on to icloud.com, my contacts are all there but they're not in any of the GROUPS I created. There isn't even a GROUP button to press. On my iphone, the contact groups are still present. Please can you help? Thank you. I have an iphone SE, and a HP laptop with Windows 10.

When you go to iCloud.com > you should see Contacts on the home page.
