PROBLEMS WITH CONTACTS> NO SOLUTION ON THE INTERNET

Hello,

I have been searching in the internet for possible solutions for my issue, but there wasn't any, which made me freak out a lot.

Yesterday I opened Whatsapp and it crashed and closed. I reopened it a few times but the same thing happened. When I opened it again after a few seconds, every single one of my contacts showed up as numbers instead of names.

I opened the Phone app and there weren't any contacts as names there too, there wasn't even the contacts option in the bar at the bottom as you can see.

Then, I dialed a friend's number and clicked on "Add Contact", but the Phone app immediately crashed. I repeated the same thing, but it crashed every time.

So, I thought if I couldn't add contacts by the Phone app, I could add them from Whatsapp. I opened it, opened a chat, clicked on my friend's profile and clicked "Create New Contact", but it said that Whatsapp didn't have access to my contacts. I opened Settings> Whatsapp, but the Contacts option wasn't even there. (I also can't send photos and can't use the camera because those options aren't there too.)

The first idea I had was to restart my phone but there wasn't a Restart button there. I've never experienced all of this before.

I thought I could delete and reinstall Whatsapp, but I haven't backed up my chats and I didn't want to lose them. So I installed Viber and logged into my old account. Same problem with it, too, Contacts, Camera and Photos don't show up in its settings, too.

So, the last thing I tried to do was: I opened Settings> Privacy> Contacts, to see which of my apps needed to have access my contacts, and then turn the option on, but no app was there, while I have Whatsapp and Viber installed.

Then I opened the Contacts app and every contact was there, which is a good thing that I didn't lose my contacts, but also very confusing.

At first I thought it was a storage problem, because my iCloud storage is completely full and my iPhone storage is almost full, but I don't really think so right now. I haven't had issues with my phone before so this is very strange, because there was no solution on the internet, too. I really need my contacts and Whatsapp, because online school is starting soon.

Any help would be appreciated,

Mishel.

Contacts are neither stored locally on an iPhone nor in SIM. They are synced to an email account that you had Google, iCloud, AOL, Exchange, Outlook, Yahoo or any Other

  1. How many Contacts account (email client server) you have?
  2. What is your default Contacts Account?
  3. Which email account you are using to store Contacts?

  • See the GIF below for Contacts and Default Account

  • Learn how to add an email account and make it default (Watch the GIF)
  • This example is for Gmail but the process remains same for all Google, iCloud, AOL, Exchange, Outlook, Yahoo or any Other

First of all, thank you a lot for replying.

I don't really understand the first question, if you would explain it that would be really helpful.

About the second and third question, my Default Contacts Account is a Gmail account, the same one that I am using to store my contacts.

I checked the settings and everything was as you showed, so I don't think that's really the issue.

Again, thank you for replying,

Mishel.
