iPad Fingerprint Not Working and Overheating

Hi,

I have a 6th Gen iPad and Over the last two weeks it says unable to use the fingerprint ID. I’ve tried editing the settings and setting it up again but says to go back as unable to do at this time.

and when I’ve been pressing the home button, I’ve noticed it’s very hot to the touch, and lastnight the whole bottom half of the iPad was hot. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?
