Macbook Pro 2016 screen glitching

I was in the middle of watching a video, and suddenly my screen starts glitching with horizontal lines (see image).

After going downstairs and crying with stress, I came back to it and the flickering glitching lines had stopped, but when I went on it it started again (and haven’t stopped since)

Can someone tell me what has happened? The laptop hasn’t left the house or been impacted my anything to make this happen. Will I need to get the screen replaced (I know how expensive this is so am stressed). On top of it, I need my laptop for work and there are no genius appointments available near me.

What needs fixing depends on the actual problem. If you want a hint, either connect an external display or take a screenshot (Command-Shift-3) and view it on another device (email it to your phone, etc.). If the display looks normal on the external display / screenshot, then the problem is with the display or the internal connections (e.g. ribbon cable) to the display. If the external display / screenshot is also affected, the problem is with the GPU or associated circuitry.

But either way, you'll need service:
