Stop mirroring of dual external displays: spanning issues with my MacBook

Hello community!

I have a 2017 MacBook running Catalina, and I just purchased 2 external Samsung CF392 displays from BJ's for a steal. Then, I picked up a UtechSmart adapter on Amazon to plug into my single USB-C port, which allows the 2 HDMI cables to be plugged in, as well as a power source USB-C (and another USB). That all seems to work, but the 2 external displays are mirroring each other.

How do I make them span so I may utilize 3 displays at once? I do not believe this is Daisy Chain compatible.

Thank you in advance!

You can't. Your mid-2017 MacBook supports one external display at up to 4096x2304 / 60 Hz. With two displays connected, they're going to be mirrored. If you want to run two separate external displays, you need a new Mac.

The current entry-level MacBook Air supports two external displays at 4K.
