This morning, while watching YouTube via the app, the display format changed for no discernible reason from a grid display to a single column of grainy, very large thumbnails. Of course, since it’s a touchscreen, nothing I do changes it back. It occurs only on the Home page - Notifications, Library, etc. all display normally. I HATE THIS!!!!
Anyone else seen this?

A simple hard reset of my iPad seems to have solved this issue.
Another user has posted that they found on YouTube’s site that it’s a glitch with their app that will be fixed. If you use a browser instead of the app it seems to work fine.
Given that several people are having issues with this, Google/Youtube seems to have changed something on their site. Since it is their app that appears to be malfunctioning they are the ones that need to fix it. You should look on their site. If several people here are having issues I’d bet that thousands of other users are as well.
I don't use the Support Communities very often, so maybe I didn't use the correct search terms (too few, too many, not the right words, etc.), but I didn't see any other posts about this issue.

I am seeing the same single column layout.
I was having the same issue. Just went back into the app, and it’s working normally now. Thank goodness!
The YouTube app suddenly changed display formats on my iPad Pro and I can’t change it back.
