I am trying to backup my iphone X to Macbook pro Catalina10.15.6 and it won't show up in the finder like the search directions said. My iphone has updated software to IOS 13.6.

Did you connect your iPhone X to your MacBook Pro with the use of a lightning to USB cable? If YES and your iPhone still does not show in Finder then reboot the MacBook Pro and your iPhone X and try again.

I am using a usb C hub to connect my iphone that I have used before and the iphone showed up in the finder, but today it isn't recognizing it. Both the MBP and iphone X's software are updated. I restarted both but still no recognizing it. The USB hub works because it charged my phone.
You clearly seem to recognize the hub is almost certainly the problem. Indeed that is correct. Plug the iPhone directly into the Mac.
The only connection to my MBP from my iphone X that I have is the usb C hub. What connector do I need to buy to plug in my iphone X with a usb end?
