After update apple id error

After downloading Catalina, my attempts to log on to Apple ID fail with the error message "unknown error has occurred". I have changed my password several times and it still doesn't work. I created a new user and was able to log on to Apple ID, but still can't log on as my normal user account. I don't want to abandon my normal user account! Help!

Are you running any anti - virus programs? Using a VPN?


Try the Safe Mode in your normal user account.


Safe Mode - About.       


If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. If the log won’t post, try posting it in Pastebin and provide a link in a reply. After pasting the report in a PasteBin page, go to the top of the page, and copy the address in the URL bar. Paste that in a new reply.        Pastebin.

Try using What to do after you change your Apple ID or password https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204071


And, see If you can't connect to the App Store, iTunes Store, or other Apple services https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201400. There have been quite a few Apple server connection problems lately. Among other things, in the above document, see Check Apple’s System Status page. You can check there to see if the needed server is available when you need to use one.

 

Also, below are the alert messages given in the document. But, receiving others is a possibility. Use the steps in the above document if you see one of these error messages or a somewhat similar message.

 

·      "Cannot connect to the iTunes Store. An unknown error has occurred."

·      "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

·      "Could not connect to the iTunes Store. Make sure your network connection is active and try again."

·      "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection could not be established. There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."


I emphasize the bold alert message above.
