iOS 13.6 stopping podcasts

Prior to this update, apps which stopped my podcasts from playing in the background could be overridden by pressing play on my external Bluetooth speakers when the new app was opened, or from the control panel accessed from inside the app.

Now, the apps that stop my podcasts cannot be forced to let them play, no matter what I do. Trying to play them from the external speakers as before doesn’t work, and I can’t restart the podcast from the control panel until the offending app is closed.

So how do I play Bejeweled Stars and listen to podcasts and/or other music now?

These apps should not be able to control the operating environment like this. If I want to listen to my podcasts or music, they should not be allowed to turn it off.

Serious bug. If y’all don’t fix it so I have the control of what my device plays, I might as well go to an Android phone next time.

iPad, iOS 9
