Misaligned screen with a gray gradient bar spanning across the entire viewport - iPad Pro 11 inch
Context
I bought a brand new iPad Pro 11in (2nd generation) from apple.com. It finally arrived in the mail yesterday (8/6). It worked as expected and the screen was perfect. I was very happy.
The problem
- I opened up my iPad this morning and the home screen appeared briefly and then the screen went black; quickly.
- Each time I tried to unlock the home screen the same thing occurred. I could never get past this step. There was also a lot of pixelation at the bottom of the screen flickering.
- I tried to attempt to turn off the iPad, but the screen would go black before I could swipe the control to turn it off.
- I noticed a notification on the home screen indicating that a software update was made automatically to iPadOS 13.6. I wonder if this is what messed everything up?
- I ended up calling Apple Support. They helped me reset my iPad and I could finally get past the login screen.
- However, I now see that my screen view appears misaligned. There is a gray gradient filled bar that appears at the bottom, top, sides (changes based on portrait or landscape view) that expands the entire viewport.
- In Settings I erased all content and setting and this didn't fix the problem.
Any help with this issue would be appreciated. Otherwise, I'm going to have to figure out a way to send this back and get a replacement. COVID certainly doesn't help with this situation, otherwise, I would be going to the Apple Store.
Here's an image of the bar that I'm seeing (down at the bottom):
