Adding ringtones

I have downloaded iTunes 12.10 for windows and when I create a ringtone and convert to m4a tried to drag and drop into tones folder, but each time I drag and drop or copy paste the ringtones goes to music folder and not to tones folder. How do I add it to tones folder?

In iTunes there was a folder titled "tones" for custom ringtones but that is not the case in the Apple Music app. I even tried going on an old G4 PowerBook that still has iTunes to make the ringtone the old way but my iPhone XS will not sync to it and when I try to transfer that m4r file to my MacBook Pro it does not recognise the file type. Any solutions to this loss of functionality?

Ringtone sync problem Hi, I have created a new ringtone but it will not sync into my iPhone X Tones directory from iTunes on my MacBook. It has synced into the Music directory and I cannot find a way of moving it into Tones. The tone is 29 seconds long and has the m4r extension so I am at a loss to discover what has gone wrong. I am running iTunes 12.8. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. David

Can't move custom ringtones to Tones folder on iPhone 6S Plus I created several ringtones from songs. I followed directions I found online that said to select the song in iTunes on my desktop iMac, create a start and stop time no longer than 30 seconds, save it as an AAC file, drag the file to my desktop, change the extension from m4a to m4r, then go to the Tones folder on my iPhone in iTunes and drag the file into the window. Unfortunately when I drag the file, it gets stored in Music and not in Tones and no matter what I do (drag, copy and paste, etc.), the file won't move. Any suggestions? I'm running Mojave 10.14.5 on my iMac and iOS 12.2 on my iPhone. Thanks, Lloyd
