Cannot send mail The sender address was invalid

Hi - I am no longer able to send e mails from my bt account on my phone or iPad when connected to the internet. I have deleted the account and reinstalled, checked all the settings and named the account with the e mail address. Does anyone have any other suggestions please??

If you can't send email on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

When you make an iOS or iPadOS backup in iCloud or iTunes, it backs up your mail settings, but not your email. ...
Make sure that your device is connected to the Internet.
Check with your email service provider to find out if there's a service outage.
