Iphone storage full, apps crashing

Hello

I have the iPhone 6S, old I know, going to upgrade soon but want to figure out whats wrong first.

My phone keeps saying storage is full. I have deleted multiple apps, texts convos, pictures (yes recently deleted as well) etc and my storage will update and say I have room e.g. I had 31.9/32 GB used, deleted stuff, went down to 27/32GB Problem solved right? Wrong.

The storage keeps filling up, and I am not even adding anything to it. Each time I delete something the storage goes down momentarily but then gets filled again and everything crashes within minutes. I can force restart phone which will allow me to open 1 or 2 apps for a few mins before closing again, force restarting doesn't do anything to the actual storage numbers tho fyi. I have read multiple forums about how to fix this, so please do not tell me I need to delete things because I have deleted almost every thing (even cache). This has to be a device issue or glitch.

So basically Apple is giving me no choice but to get a new phone. I can manage with an awful battery life like i have for the last year, but I cant manage with what they're doing now. I can't email, check any apps, take pics--or even look at my camera for that matter, without things crashing.

Only thing I have not tried is factory restarting it and I only want to do that if I have no other options because it scares me lol

You can buy iCloud Storage. --> Buy more iCloud storage - Apple Support

You can manage your storage --> How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Manage your Storage --> Manage your photo and video storage - Apple Support

Your photos are always available on both iPhone and iCloud. You delete it on iPhone it is gone from iCloud and vice-versa. To save space on your iPhone use Optimised iPhone storage. Remember, if you delete in one it is deleted everywhere.

Get started with iCloud Photos:

  1. Tap Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos.
  2. Turn on iCloud Photos.
  3. Select Optimize iPhone Storage to save space on your device.

With Optimize Storage, smaller, space-saving photos and videos are kept on your device while all of your original, full-resolution versions are stored in iCloud. And as long as you have enough space in iCloud, you can store as many photos and videos as you want.
