Will my new MacBook Air connect to the campus 802.11b wireless Ethernet protocol seamlessly or do I need an alternative device?

Ethernet connection for 2017 MacBook Pro Hi, I have a 2017 MacBook Pro that does not have an Ethernet port. Unfortunately the wifi in my office at work is flighty at best. I do have an adapter that will convert one of those Thunderbolt ports into a wired connection location. Will this work with my Mac? I don't know if my Mac has a networking card that will work with a hard-wired connection vs. wifi. Thanks for your help.
