I installed IOS 12.4.8 on my iPhone 6 last week. My fairy new battery (98%) drains quickly now. How can I fix this?

Give it 72 hours (it is probably indexing your iPhone) and see if it slows down. If not check Settings > Battery and see what apps/processes are using up the most battery.

So in Settings > Battery what processes/apps are using most of your battery?
That’s the one that usually gets me after updates. Either wait for the next update, remove it from your recently used and start it again or delete it and redownload it again.

Facebook is not an Apple product.
Facebook is not part of the update.
So I fail to see your logic. Several hundred million iPhones are currently running iOS 13.6. If it was the update there would be tens of thousands of posts about it, and headlines on every major news site.
