Email folders

Hi. I just bought a new MacBook. Although I've signed into my rocket mail (yahoo) email account, my folders and messages aren't showing. Anyone know a solution? I would be very thankful.

Is your account set up as IMAP? If it was POP on a prior computer, the mail was stored locally not on the mail server.

"on my Mac" email folders I updated the OS last week and suddenly my MacBook stopped recognising my charger! Long story short, we had to erase and restore the software. When I restored my files from Time Machine however, the "on my Mac" email folders were no longer in mail!
