Apple Pay and Debit card

I just recently set up Apple Pay using a debit card thinking it would be contactless. The first time I used AP, it was contactless and no pin was asked for. Since then, every transaction has required a pin. Is there a way to turn this off? Seems AP may not be contactless if using a debit card which kind of defeats the whole point.

Cheers

You might need to contact your card issuer to see if there is a way to remove the PIN. Ask the cashier to select credit and not debit if possible. Most POS terminals default to debit which requires a PIN.
