Apple Pay with Debit Card

Is there a particular reason I'm asked for a PIN when using my debit card with Apple Pay? I don't have that requirement when using a credit card. It defeats the purpose of contactless payment.

Apple Pay and Debit card I just recently set up Apple Pay using a debit card thinking it would be contactless. The first time I used AP, it was contactless and no pin was asked for. Since then, every transaction has required a pin. Is there a way to turn this off? Seems AP may not be contactless if using a debit card which kind of defeats the whole point. Cheers

AFAIK, that behavior is a function of the payment terminal, and is not related to Apple Pay.
