No progress bar in Finder window when restoring from an iPhone backup

I'm on Catalina 10.15.6. I'm restoring from a computer backup via the Finder window. There's no window with a progress bar or estimated time of the restore from the iPhone backup. There isn't even a circular pie chart next to the iPhone title in the side bar. There's only the eject button there. On my iPhone, the screen is blacked out and "Restore In Progress" is on the screen. I can't use the phone while this is going on.

Is this normal? I saw a few YT videos and many of them have a progress window appear with an estimated time for the restore, but I'm not getting that.

Update on 8/13/20:

So I restarted my computer and tried again today and now I see the circular pie chart on the side bar of the finder window while it's restoring!
